Cheese making at Ferndale Farm

We offer over 40 very different cheeses from home and abroad including some great English and local specialities. Over the past few years Norfolk has come golden with its variety and quality of cow and goat cheeses. Mrs Temple's Farm at Wighton really cares about its animals and the way its four unique cheeses are prepared. Ferndale Farm is producing fine quality cheeses with real depth and flavour - totally distinctive and very exciting!

There's to many to mention but to whet your appetite...

Binham Blue
Famous locally, made by Mrs Temple just inland at Wighton... Rich, smooth, creamy and full flavour without overpowering.

Norfolk Dapple and Smoked Dapple
Classic style by Ellie Betts at Ferndale Farm up the road... Ripe and firm cheddar style with a sophisticated old England appeal. The smoked Dapple is clean and round causing a stir to ones mid-palatte. Try with our Chateux La Hase at ©8.95

Colston Bassett
An honest Stilton with age and breeding. Try with our prune walnut wheel.

Stinking Bishop
As seen on Wallace and Gromet to the vexation of the cheese maker. Stinky due to the outer rind washed in a perry. This is an English masterpiece, soft and brie like in texture.

Brie de meaux
Wins gold at Macon year after year..

Lincolnshre Poacher
A full flavour cheddar with sweet nutiness. Strong and mature.

Manchego
Two month old Spanish sheep's cheese. Nutty, salty and crunchy. Try with quince paste.

Pecorino
A young sheeps cheese from Sardinia. Classically over Carbonarra or Pizza.

Monte Enebro
Young Spanish mountain goats cheese... creamy and full flavour. Won gold at the World Cheese Awards 2006.

Wells
Another gem by Mrs Temple. This one is very versatile. Alpine cheese like, nutty and a great melter.

Jacmar
From Norfolk, this Goat's cheese is young and wonderfully delicate and light.

Please pop in and try before you buy!

Alternatively, get yourself to the Red Lion in Stiffkey or The Golden Fleece in Wells for a meal and try the fantastic cheese board supplied by us.
